Join storytellers from the Bloomington Storytellers Guild for a special edition of our annual Summer Tales event.

 It's time for Summer Tales!

The Monroe County Public library has invited the Bloomington Storytellers Guild to share our summer tales for families, tweens, teens, and adults on July 18th -- and we're inviting people who are interested in joining us to  try out a story at Auditions on June 23rd!

 Auditions are JUNE 23, in the Monroe County Public Library(Indiana) auditorium, from 6:30 to 8 pm.

Storytelling at Wondercamp

There's a long tradition of stories at summer camp.

The Bloomington Storytellers Guild has been part of this tradition for a long time.

This year we've shared stories at WonderCamp, a science camp from Bloomington's Wonderlab.

Here's Dana with a story for the theme "Eco Explorers"

Ginny and Arin shared stories about Rocks for "Science Sampler"

Ginny has a folktale in which a boulder tells tales.

Everyone got into the act.

Arin shared a true story about a volcano.

We're so glad to be able to share stories with these enthusiastic campers!

 

Summer Tales

 Summer Tales, a collection of stories for a warm summer evening told by members of the Bloomington Storytellers Guild is scheduled for 

Friday, July 29, 

from 7-8:30 p.m. 

at the Monroe County Public Library Auditorium 

at the MCPL Main Branch on Kirkwood Avenue.  

The show will feature favorite tales chosen by the individual teller and is appropriate for adults and children ages 10 and older. Summer Tales has replaced BSG's normal performance of Wintertelling which had to be cancelled the past two years due to Covid 19 protocols. The performance is free and open to the public.

Time for the Annual BUG FEST at Hilltop Gardens!

So it's a great time to tell stories about creepy crawlies!

This year Stephanie Holman will be presenting tales featuring insects in the presentation tent 

from 10:30 to 11:00 am.

Two truths and a lie

At our seasonal meeting last week we were fortunate to hear a hilarious preview of some stories to be shared at this program:

Not going to say whether we heard truth or falsehood, but guarantee you will have a great time at this program!

Plein Air Storytelling, or, The Guild Gets Out

While one of us was telling "Six Legged Stories" at the annual "Bug Fest" in Bloomington,

Another teller was masterfully entertaining groups at the New Harmony Arts and Music Festival.

And yet another storyteller was preparing to present tales for Cub Scouts out in the woods.

Summer is the time to take stories outside!

If you go for a walk with a librarian...

If you go for a walk by the lake with a librarian,

you will be reminded of a story.

and if you are reminded of a story,

you will have to tell that story.





And if you tell that story,

everyone will have a good time!

The Summer Story Picnic

While certain wanderers roamed through Lower Cascades wondering where we were, our shelter house in Upper Cascades was all set up and waiting.

Soon our table was full of good food and fine stories about stories.

And we raised a fork in honor of those of you who missed this festive event!
